We quit.

It’s quite funny.

My friend Michael + I decided that we will stop writing “serious stuffs” for 2016. I feel quite happy about this. ^^

The motivation is simple– Everyone has ideas, but not everyone can empathize. Everyone preaches “freedom of expression”, but it usually ends up in hate, especially without knowledge of context.

Today I read an article by my favorite Finnish Politician Erkki Tuomioja. It points out how damaging social media is to the perpetuation of hate speech. I completely agree! You can spread whatever lies, shame, or nonsense via social media. Make up something, repeat it 1,000X, and people swallow hook, line and sinker.

I don’t want to express my opinions on controversial topics anymore. I used to think of engagement as really challenging people’s opinion. Playing the Devil’s advocate sometimes, so to speak. But now I see that perhaps, engagement on social media is but a form of praise and inflating a bubble.

For Michael’s case it was like, “So that’s my game plan for a 2016 completely devoid of hope. That’s okay. Hope is completely overrated anyway.”

Feel free to unfollow.🙂

    Hi WW,

Your writings have been very delighting. I will not unfollow🙂

  2. Free speech, once a noble value has now become a tool to spread hate. What some don’t seem to understand is that with freedom comes responsibility. Responsibility for one’s self and others.
But back to the topic. I quit long time ago. Welcome to the other side. 😎

    • Couldn’t agree more.😉 thanks a zil Ron! Social media really jinx up original raw feelings and messages.
