JUNKWOOD

Meet Frinny*. (Name changed to protect the innocent). I’d never imagined in my whole life that I’d be able to own ART like Frinny. It’s a surreal, happy type of feeling! 😀 When Clive from treesandtrunks passed me the JUNKWOOD box at the MRT station, I was overjoyed. For a moment I remembered this Japanese verse–「そんなガラクタを大切そうに抱えていた」. THIS– is literally ガラクタ personalified. 🙂 ❤ Or perhaps even “overjoyed” is an understatement– I’d always loved wood. The smell of wood, the texture of wood, and in general, its tranquillity. It’s really gentle on the eyes, and somehow connects you with the wider world around you–nature. The Here’s Fiona when she visited Helsinki! 😀 In Finland, I am constantly surrounded by forests–chunks and chunks and chunks of them–and one of my hobbies is to stare into the vast, unending forests and be surrounded by silence. Forests are really amazing living places, and the silence which encapsulates them is both alluring and enchanting. And Niko’s dad owns a forest in Finland, so it’s pretty cool to go on forest …

I just exposed a company.

Hey guys! Today I’m going to talk about fake facebook likes. Take a look at this facebook page, run by this unethical private PR firm, for a government organisation meant to encourage set up ironically, and specifically, to encourage Singaporean youths to commit less crimes. They have 69,788 likes. and 15 people talking about this. You kidding me? That’s less than 0.02% of people caring about their page. And…best part, most people come from VIENTAM, Ha Noi. What would Vietnamese people be interested in a website related to Singapore youths??? This is –perhaps–obviously a case of the private PR firm faking likes over facebook. TO fake 70,000 likes, you just need to pay USD35, if you get the (dirty) job done over fiverr; USD5 for 10,000 fake likes.  Look at the black arrow; why is there a sudden drop? Simply because they bought fake likes, and stupidly so from Vietnam. Facebook bans and delete fake accounts all the time. Yes, screw them.  I believe they are using us taxpayers’ money to cheat. There are also, of course …

Compers…are not beggars

Hello lovely readers of The Hieno! ♥ This is my third post in the past 24 hours, am going to create a new category PR and file them all under it. My fever is going down, and I’m feeling better but still very tired! “Compers” is defined here as consumers who like to join contests. Okay this post is addressed to PR companies in Singapore— I know there is this notion of Singaporeans being extremely auntie-like and kiasu, BUT never treat them like beggars. Never have a condescending attitude towards them, failing which, your brand will never go far. Here’s reason number one why– Compers…are increasingly having a loud presence BOTH online, and offline. Some compers even have constantly updated blogs, and go to a hell lot of events. Why on earth would ANY COMPANY want to treat them differently as bloggers? They talk, they have presence, they know a hell lot about social media. They are no longer the stereotypical aunties who cannot use computers anymore. They might be people like teachers, housewives, coders …

Exclusive! The Cheater’s Cheatsheet.

Hello All! ❤ Today I’m going to expose cheaters. I found time to write this post because I’m currently running a fever AND the panadols and cough syrup are ironically making me “high” and not sleepy. But it’s good lah coz I took MC and I can finally rest! 😀 Background again on what sparked today’s and yesterday’s post. I was drinking coffee with the amazing Sheryl and Carol yesterday, and Sheryl shared her experiences in contesting. And because we got along so well (Sheryl is damn funny!!!), I was pretty inspired by her generous sharing; I wanted to present a post to make it easier for everyone to report cheaters, as you would just need to send this URL to organisers when you want to show them how Singaporean facebook contests cheaters cheat. Why am I so against cheaters? Because cheating takes the joy out of winning contests. Is it not sian to spam everyone on your facebook list, lead a voting contest, only to have you beaten by a cheater with USD5. I’d …

My Secret to Winning Contests!

♥Hello All Supporters of The Hieno!♥ Today I’m going to blog about a super useful life skill–winning contests legitimately.  I sincerely hope it will bless you all. 🙂 Here’s the background: I used to have an alterego that I set up for social media “spying” purposes, and her name is Rella!  “Rella” first started joining contests in January 2013.  Coming from a PR/marketing background, it all started from wondering how it felt like winning prizes, and I decided to join too, just to experience the comper’s perspective! 🙂 So this explains some of your questions ya– “how come an atas person like wanwei joins contest?” The answer is: RELLA IS ACTUALLY VERY BIMBOTIC. If can win bag, who don’t want? I deviate. Anyway I started joining, and within a week, I won something! Like…what, really? 😀 Then as I joined more dilligently, I started winning more. And I was super grateful! Is it really “luck”? No– it is “skills”– and read on to know my secrets! Part of the reason why I was super grateful …
